This past weekend we had two active-centric excursions to Montmorency Falls and the Wendake Village. Montmorency was once a militarily-strategic lookout for Colonel Montmorency before the Battle of Abraham and is at a height of 84 m (276 ft)! Even though it had been cloudy, the kids powered through and took some really fun photos whilst getting an intense leg workout on the stairs.
Sunday was another culturally immersive day as we traveled to one of the Native American reservations still in Québec, which is home to the Wendake Nation. We took a guided tour of how the Indigenous tribes used to live before the French and British colonization and how they continue to keep their original customs and traditions alive.

Another amazing week has passed here at Abbey Road Québec and we're so excited to share the following pictures with you! 
This past Sunday was incredibly eventful with us spending the day in Vieux Québec. There was a lot of walking and sightseeing as we first hiked up to see the Notre Dame de Québec with it's beautiful Greco-Roman architecture.

For lunch, we ate at the elegant Cafe d'Orsay before heading down to the Musée de la Civilasation. At the musée, we got a tour of the rich history of the Indigenous peoples that lived on this land for the past 2,000 years. ​Throughout our stay, we've also been in the middle of the Festival d'été which is a huge music festival here in Québec. Although we couldn't get tickets, that didn't stop a group of the girls from keeping an eye out for Shawn Mendes.

On Monday, we went back to Vieux Québec to watch a fun street performance in which our Program Director, Kyle, was selected to participate (don't worry, there is video evidence upon request)! The most immersive part of the day though was when we visited an archaeology museum located under Château Fontanac where the actual chateau existed before a hotel was built over it! We think the group really enjoyed this given their excitement to try on period clothing as shown below:

The next day we went back to Vieux Québec to shop even more (can't forget those souvenirs) followed by a trip to the movies to see Jurassic World and Antman and the Wasp. 
On Wednesday, we walked over to the campus's botanical gardens to practice our photography and conversational skills while admiring the beautiful flora and fauna. Thursday we visited the Choco-Musée but Friday was the real highlight when we rode the Québec Ferry at twilight and watched a fountain light show on the other side of the river. Overall, it was a truly incredible week here at Abbey Road and we can't wait to share more memories!
